Support from the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation will help connect more Triangle families to developmental screenings, therapy, and parent coaching services.

RALEIGH, NC – September 30, 2025TLC is proud to announce it has been awarded a $15,000 Game Changer Grant from the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation. This grant will expand TLC’s Outreach Services—a key initiative within its Individual & Family Services program—designed to identify and support children experiencing developmental and social-emotional challenges.

TLC’s Outreach Services bring early intervention directly to families who may otherwise fall through the cracks. Through partnerships with organizations like the Salvation Army shelter, TLC provides developmental screenings, therapeutic referrals, parent coaching, and case management for families navigating adversity. This grassroots support meets families where they are and builds bridges to long-term care and support.

“Early intervention changes everything,” said Sarah Crawford, CEO of TLC. “We are so grateful to the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation for believing in our work and investing in children’s health right here in our community. This grant helps ensure that more families—particularly those facing homelessness, trauma, or poverty—can access the support they need to thrive.”

The Game Changer Grant will directly impact more than 100 children across the Triangle region, allowing TLC’s Outreach Coordinator to expand access to screening, counseling, and parent education services. These offerings are rooted in the nationally recognized Strengthening Families™ Protective Factors Framework, which emphasizes resilience, positive relationships, and long-term emotional well-being.

For 56 years, TLC has provided compassionate, community-based care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Its services span the full lifespan, including early childhood intervention, therapy, residential care, and family supports.

“We’re excited to recognize the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation as a true partner in our mission,” said Brittany Constance, TLC’s Director of Strategic Impact & Outreach. “Their investment not only helps individual children—it strengthens families and builds a more inclusive community for all.”
